Adobe Photoshop Tutorial

Above is the brief for the Adobe Photoshop Tutorial. The task was to create a portrait and put it on top of a image. I am quite good at using Photoshop as I have used this programme for many years through school and college.

Above are the steps that I went through to creating my portrait image. To begin with we started to look into Raw files and PNG files. I had to make sure that the image was a 'Raw file'. This is because, when it comes to editing the image to make my final piece it would allow you to do a lot more and it keeps the images how it is. Because, if you use a PNG file this automatically converts the image and changes it when I don't want this to happen.

Next, I took the image of myself and I had to cut it out leaving just the outline of me. This was quite difficult because of the hair and it made it tricky. I managed to cut this out using the magic wand tool in Photoshop as I knew how to do it using that. I then put the outline of my onto a blue background. Next, I had to add an image to the background behind me. I got one of the images from the folder we had and I then put this behind. What I did was I imported the image into Photoshop and I then dragged the image on the layers tab below me so then it would put the image behind me. Due to knowing a lot about photoshop this was easy to complete. I then decided top play around with the image of myself. What I wanted to do was overlay a image over the top of me. I knew how to do this. I got a tattoo looking image and I then put this over the top of me (making sure it was on the layer above the layer with me on). I then went to the affects tool and then used the overlay tool to over lay the image on top of my. I then played around with the opacity of the image and moved ti to get the perfect place that I was happy with. I was happy with the outcome of this.

To finish with I added a bit of text to the image. I used the '#hudgda'. This stands for 'Huddersfield - Graphic Design and Animation. I was quite comfortable with adding text onto this and I did this to a high standard. Below is final image that I created and I am very happy with the outcome to this. If I was to go back and do this again, I would maybe look into the other tools like:Overlay, Lighten, Darken etc. But I am pleased with what I have produced.
